Labour Weekend at the Continental in Whangarei was a cracker! Beautiful weather and lots of families enjoying the facilities. Swimming in the pool, relaxing in the spa and cooking on the BBQ. It really felt like summer. Our accommodation at the Continental is well suited for families. Spacious rooms and different bed combinations suit all groups.
Summer activities are getting started. Many of the markets around Whangarei are now regular events. One of the most popular is the Artisans Market, held every week at Reyburn House Lane, at the Whangarei Town Basin (Whangarei’s tourist hub), on Saturdays from 9am to 1:30pm. Boasting a fantastic range of local artisan products, fine art, handcrafts and gourmet food items. The Artisans Market is Whangarei’s premium arts and crafts market.
The Canopy Night Market is another must. At the Whangarei Town Basin, on Fridays from 5 to 8.30pm each month. The Canopy Night Market brings you a vibrant street food event with a focus on multicultural cuisine, prepared and cooked fresh on-site. Grab a picnic blanket and step out to the Town Basin for a smoke-free family-friendly event and soak up the atmosphere from one of our talented live performers!
The biannual event of the Hospice House Tour 2019 is not to be missed. Raising funds for Hospice, you can tour a variety of wonderful homes in the Bream Bay, Waipu Cove and Langs Beach area. This is held over two days Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November from 9:30am. A great opportunity for a ladies’ weekend away.
And don’t forget the Whangarei A&P Show at Barge Showgrounds, Maunu, Whangarei Saturday 7 December 2019 9:00am – 4:30pm. The iconic Whangarei A&P Show brings town and country together!
